5 Tips for Saving Gas
Gas prices are on the rise. Here are some tips to help you conserve gas and save money as we approach summer.
Tip#1 - Start Carpooling - Save gas and money by riding into the office with your co-workers. If you take your children to school or other functions you can trade off with your friends and neighbors. Remember to alternate drivers weekly or monthly so that each person contributes to the carpool.
Tip#2 - Public Transportation - If possible, take public transportation to work, instead of driving your car. In addition to saving money on gas, you’ll be able to enjoy the downtime during rush hour traffic and maybe even fit in a quick nap.
Tip#3 - Price Shop - It may be convenient to buy your gas at the small gas station just up the road, but you should check the prices at other nearby gas stations, as well. There may only be a difference of a few cents, but that can and will add up over an extended period of time.
Tip#4 - Get Moving - Summer brings milder weather, so start walking or biking to your destinations. You won’t have to worry about paying for parking or traffic jams, and the exercise will be great for you body.
Tip#5 - Check Your Tires - If your tires are too low, or the pressure in them is unequal it can make your car burn more gas. Also, if you take off from every red light very fast you are going to burn more fuel, so it is best to take off a little slower.
